| Guest | I just got the HI-6Tr on my truck, but I haven't had it long enough to note any improvements other than its great retarding the timing while pulling a trailer - Brian------------------ 94 Red Lightning K-B Supercharger (7psi), BAP, plug wires and switch chip K&N Filter, 180* Thermostat, Diesel Tube Bassani x-pipe, Crane ps-91 coil and HI-6Tr Ign., Aeromotive FPR My Other Toy: 78 Trans Am 400 w/nitrous |

| Guest | Yeah, I run the Hi6S on my blown Lightning, I bought it through Summit a couple of years ago for $150 including the PS 91 coil. I also run the boost retard with it. The new boxes seem to be trouble free, boxes they sold about 3 years ago had numerous problems. I've only had the coil go south on me, which Crane quickly replaced, it was even out of warranty. By the way, they are very consumer friendly. Nice features are the 2 stage rev. limiter. You can use the 1st stage as an anti theft device or valet switch. There will be no noticable power increases. Most after market ignition systems boast about mileage and power gains, I've think it is all pretty much unfounded, especially that expensive, aggressively marketed Jacobs system. IMHO there is not a lot of bang for the buck just insures good hot spark and helps keep the fire lit when the supercharger wants to blow the spark out. | Guest | I have used the Crane HI-6 and HI-6S and both broke on me after less than 10,000 miles. I'm not going to sit here and talk bad about Crane, only say that I won't use them again. I can say that Steve is right, they are very customer service oriented and you'll have nothing to lose. Every time my stuff broke, they never asked for a receipt or anything. I just sent it back to them and had a new one in a few days, usually next day air. So last time when I got it back, I just sold it to a buddy and you guessed it, it broke on his truck too. Now I'm just using the new MSD coil that they make for EEC Fords. Has been trouble free. On my old Mustang I used the Jacobs Pro Street iginition. That was a hell of an ignition system. I should have kept it. I got zapped once and it literally knocked my on my ***. ------------------ http://mypeoplepc.com/members/no4ncar/5150/ |

| Guest | Ken here. I have to agree with sstock. I've had my crane system for 5 years now and have had no trouble. I use the PS92 coil and I can tell you from first hand experience, that it packs a punch. While checking for bad plug wires it bit me thru a motorsport wire, knocked me back to the garage wall and blinded me for about 15-20 seconds. I've never had a ignition spark hit me that hard. I think you'll be happy with the results of the Crane system. KEN |

| Guest | I also fell the need to add this. I have a theory about why my systems failed. I think the heat was a major factor. I just can't figure out why I had such bad luck with the Crane ignition why everyone else had good luck. But I am considering doing it all over again, except this time I will mount the box in the cab somewhere. That's what was cool about the HI-6S. It was very small. I know all of you have yours in the engine bay, but I'm thinking witht he KB SC I had, maybe it was too hot for it. Keith ------------------ http://mypeoplepc.com/members/no4ncar/5150/ |
