Just installed one on my truck & was curious what kind of plug gap you are running? I have no major mods. Thanks

I just got my 6AL box.. Do you need a Tach Adapter, and where is the factory tach wire on the Lightning? I've got the box, harness, and coil..Couldn't pass it up for under 200 bucks Oh and I would run you gap wider than .040, factory is .044, and you have more power to the plug with a full MSD setup. I'm gonna try about .050 or so.

I run stock gap. No nitrous (yet), no blower. I do run NGK TR5's, though.

So is the install as simple as mounting the box and connecting the TFI harness? Or do I have to find the tach wire and plug that into the MSD box? And do I have to get a tach adaptor? The box is ready to bolt in, but when I trial fit it(wiring wise) the truck didn't start(no spark).. But it could have had a bad ground also..

I RUN A 6AL, TFI COIL, ADJUSTBLE TIMING CONTROLLER AND THE TFI WIRING HARNESS....ALL MSD STUFF AND HAVE AN AUTOMETER 5" MONSTER TACH. I RUN NITROUS SO I HAVE THE NGK TR6 PLUGS (1 STEP COLDER THAN STOCK) AND GAP THEM AT 35. THE INSTALL WAS THE SIMPLIEST THING I'VE DONE TO THE TRUCK SO FAR. ALL I RAN WAS POWER AND GROUND WIRES, EVERYTHING ELSE CLIPS TOGETHER INTO THAT HARNESS. MSD EVEN SENT ME A WIRING SCHEMATIC FOR ALL THIS STUFF ON A TFI MOTOR, THANX MSD! THE HARDEST PART IS FINDING A SPOT TO BOLT THE BOX TO, IF YOU BELEIVE IT! AS FOR THE FACTORY TACH, IT WILL STILL FUNCTION WITHOUT TOUCHING THE TACH WIRE. I RAN MY TRIGGER FOR THE AUTOMETER TACH TO THE TACH OUTPUT ON THE 6AL AND IT WORKS GREAT. MY FACTORY TACH STILL FUNCTIONS TOO, SO NO.....YOU DON'T NEED TO FIND THE FORD TACH WIRE AND/OR GET A TACH ADAPTER. IF YOU WANT TO ADD AN AFTERMARKET TACH JUST RUN THE TRIGGER WIRE ON THE TACH TO THE MALE PORT ON THE SIDE OF OF THE MSD 6AL.

OH, AND FROM EXPERIENCE...DON'T GROUND THE MSD OR ANYTHING TO THE FACTORY HEADLIGHT GROUND. I DID AND THE TRUCK KEEP SHUTTING OFF WHEN I PUT THE HEADLIGHTS ON....DOOOHHH!

Cool..So all I have to do is plug the TFI harness in and connect the 4 wires and I'm all set.. I must not have had a ground then.. Maybe I'll go out and see if that's what it was.. Thanks,

NO PROBLEM CURT!
LET US KNOW HOW IT ALL TURNS OUT AND I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE YOU MOUNTED YOUR BOX. I DON'T LIKE WHERE I PUT MINE (IN SPOT WHERE JACK USED TO BE).

Curt got his truck to run with the 6AL. We were looking under the hood the other night. I'm afraid His box is going to end up in about the same place as Yours! Probably move the "Juice can" a little and see if We can gain some room. Thanks.....
