Post How much is this '94 L worth?

I'm thinking about trading in my 99 cobra for a 94 lightning. How much should I pay? It is red, 105k, good paint, interior shows slight wear, aftermarket wheels, rhino lined bed with tonneau (sp) cover. They are asking $9990. I would probably pay $8500 for it if they gave me a good trade on the cobra. What you guys think?

I don't know about the Washington market, but I assume this is at a dealership? That's about the going dealer rate here, also. Private seller rate for that would be no more than $9000, so you have room to haggle.

Yes, it's at a dealer. If I can get a reasonable price on it and they don't try to screw me on my cobra than I will do it. It will be sad to see the cobra go though.

One more thing. Did lightnings come with step bumpers or tube bumpers?

Ok, cool. When I first saw it I thought that it may have been a fake because it had a step bumper and the lightning badges on the side were missing. Other than that everything was there.

Yup, could come with either. I believe the tube was an added option on many. Easiest way to verify is by looking at the vin number. The 8th digit is always an 'R' on Lightnings. There'll also be a Lightning logo stamped on the GT-40 intake, and bucket seats with "Lightning" sewn into the headrest, they should have bolster and lumper power supports. Maybe if you're really really lucky, yours will have the original center seat/console

It sounds like a pretty good deal. I also know a few that live in Everrt that you might be able to talk to and even maybe he can go with you and check it out. His name is Kevin and his user name is GEN14U2NV. Try to get ahold of him and he will be more than happy to help you. Just tell him that you talked to Berni.

Mr Zilla, I would be more then happy to talk to you and help you make a good desision about a new L. Since I have a 93 and know a lot about these things, I could be of some help if you want to take me up on the offer. I also know about a couple local L's in the area that have less miles for sale that you might like better. Give me a call at 1(425)870-1487. Hope to here from you.

Step bumper was stander bumper on the trucks.
The tube bumper was an extra ( I think a $600 extra) that came with the towing package.

I just got my 94 earlier this month, little over 78,500 miles, interior perfect, minnor scratches and dents, tannoe cover, some very minnor mods. Sticker was $9,900, I got them to pay off my bronco ($2500) that other lots were only gona give me $500 for it after a whole deal of crap from a mechanic that disstroied the Bronco, so you figure -$2000 off the sticker of $9,900=$7,900. and I got them to through in a 4500Mi. warrenty and one year free service. Hope this helps. The dealer had another L with over 122,000Mi. that ran like crap, paint was flaking off the wheels, lots of dents and scratches, interior show deffinet wear, they wanted the same price for it and have had it since november, so I think they might have been scared when they got this L that they would have it for ever.

Kevin, I will probably give you a call sometime today. What is a good time to call?

MO351 - the main reason that I am getting rid of the cobra is so I can avoid the damn "excise tax" here in Washington. If I keep it, it will cost me $2500 out of my pocket to title and register it. Unfortunatley, my credit union (who the loan is through) is requiring that I register it by 7/5. Now having just moved and just started my new job, I do not have the money to pay it. However, if I could wait one more month I could avoid the tax all together.

I went to the dealer last night to have another look at the Lightning. The body and paint are pretty much perfect. The interior shows slight wear. It's only modifications are a rhino lined bed, centerline wheels, a toneau cover, and a pioneer flip down face stereo.

Call me at any time. I have a funny schedual that takes me out of town twice a month for a couple of weeks, but the rest of the time I just sit at home. Today I think I am going to finish the tune up on my truck.
