| Guest | I called AFR today and established a contact. Mainly it was a fact finding mission for me and another list member. AFR's are definately in my future. Was wondering how many of you all have interest in the same. AFR will do a group buy directly with the NLOC members. The price we get will depend on the number of sets sold. Anyway at this point I'm looking for a show of hands of interested parties, then we can get a ballpark price. One thing though, AFR 185's have a 202 intake valve and states that fly cutting the pistons might be required. I'll be running a mild cam so I dont think it will be a problem but AFR is sticking with the disclaimer. I thought I remember someone maybe Icepick telling us piston to valve is not a problem with speed density friendly valvetrain. check out the link: http://www.airflowresearch.com Later Steve ------------------ 94 Crimson. | Guest | Are these things gonna help out us poor speed density guys? Or am i gonna be saving up for a mass air conversion as soon as i put them on? If they will live with my truck without me spending a ton of extra cash, and if the power gains are big enough, then count me in. |

| Guest | BLOG, those are real good questions. I at first was wondering about the larger intake runners over the stock GT-40. 185 vs 165. The 185's I'm told will really work well with power adders, but I would like some more input on some of the more experienced guys here on the list. I'm looking for a bolt on that is going to be tuned with a little extra fuel pressure. I'm told if we can keep the duration figures down and stay with some good idle vacuum all will be OK. ------------------ 94 Crimson. | Guest | I am interested in the AFR 185s, but I've got to do some comparing between what I have--Trick Flow Twisted Wedge, and the AFR. I am interested in what kind of flow numbers I'll need on a 393/408, and if I can get that out of the Trick Flow head, or would I be better off to go with a new head all together? I am still interested in the pricing though, keep us posted. ------------------ White Lightning #2252//'80 Mercury Capri-306 balanced, D.S.S forged pistons, TFS heads, Holley 750,Tremec, 4.10 gears, more... 13.20@107MPH//'01 F-250 White, PSD, 6 speed, 4X4, extended cab,/wife's white '01 Sport Trac I have a thing for white vehicles! |

| Guest | Hey guys, Buy them! Bolt them on and have fun!!! There great heads! With a 351 I would go for the 185's blower or not... As for the speed density what happens is the more you do modification wise the more the V.E. tables get out of whack and if ya keep at it you will eventually reach a point where no matter what you do you can't make the desired power with stock SD programming... I'm sure you can just bolt them on using a stock cam, etc., and pick up some nice power but the big gains are going to be a product of a total package with proper tuning... Chris, TW are also great heads and have the potential to feed a large stroker they will work just fine stock and even better with porting... It just depends on how you want to set it up i.e. A 408, TW unported head, mild cam, stock converter, 5000 RPM shift point makes for a nice tame torquey street motor, take the same setup with seriously ported heads, big cam, loose converter 6500+ RPM shift points and you will make some serious power but the question always is how much is to much? That's why most people tend to end up somewhere in the middle to have a livable street car... Also a lot of power can brake a lot of parts... Good luck and have fun! ------------------ Dave P. | Guest | These AFRs are going to rock. Just a note on the speed density cam.I would not even bother with the Lightning cam if I had to do over again.I dont think it gave me crap.It gives a little more RPM but I think thats manly because of the valve springs. For the price of the heads you can get a Mass air kit and put a killer Roller set up in.Then you are ready for the future.Thats what I would do if I could go back in time hehe. ------------------ Marcus Harrison TeamPowerdyne (AKA)Sport car killer NLOC#495 Hungry out of work eat your IMPORT |

| Guest | Depending on price, I would be interested. I was going to pick up a set of the Roush 200's when I sell off the P's but for a couple hundred more I would be interested in the AFR 185's. Is this just NLOC members? I know a few mustang guys might be interested(all in the name of a lower price) ------------------ 91 lx 5ohh...
