Post Top Truck Rule Changes - DUH!

TOP TRUCK
Page 91, REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
Add: "Non pick-up trucks or SUV's not permitted."
Add: "Air or electronic shifting devices prohibited.
Transmission must be shifted by the driver."

All Gen 2 Lightning's use an electronic shifting transmission, some with performance chips that tell the tranny when to shift. So does this mean we can't run, or do we have to shift our trucks manually? Something wrong here...... asked for an explanation but no reply yet from Mr Alexander,

The shifting rules would also apply to Gen 1 trucks since the two trannies are almost identical.

Notice it says "shifting devices." The rule refers to air-activated "Cheetah" style shifters, not full-on automatics.

I think your reading a little to much into that. IF you put it in drive, you have shifted it.

OK, I hope so. Been in one to many protest for nothing but rule interpretations.

Cool

Seems to me the rules have a way of eliminating options. Doesn't say no automatic transmissions. Instead of telling you what you can run, they tell you what is prohibited. Do all the "big boys" run manual transmissions?

No worries. About 99% ot the entries in TopTruck run automatic trannies. As long as it's not shifted by an electric or air solenoid, as in aftermarket shifters, you're safe. Leaving your stock tranny in drive and letting the computer shift it is fine. Just don't get caught with a manual valve body and a solenoid-shifted device on it.

Thanks Randy for the note. Just read a little funny to me when I saw the rule changes. Will be looking for you in Ennis.
