Is NLOC faster - slower or no change ?

Last week we changed to a new server running more current software, with more horsepower. The site is Lightning fast for me in Dallas.

Some members have had a different experience

So please post your experience

Is NLOC faster, slower or about the same as it was last Tuesday ?

If you can please also post the results of a tracert from you to the server

If you are using windows click start then go to the Run line ( or seach line in Vista ) and type CMD - hit enter and in the black window type tracert nloc.net

and if you can copy and paste the results here - at least post how many hops there are between you and the server and what the max time was in ms

Right now there are 125 people on NLOC and 30 on NHTOC

The server load is 0.25 - since its a 4 processor box you divide that by 4 and multiply by 100 to get a percentage of load
so the server is running at ~7% load

( the old server would have been running at 3.0 - 4.5 with the same number of users )

Here is a screen movie I made showing the server load of links I hadnt clicked before - Cleared cache before recording

http://www.nloc.net/nloc-speed.wmv

Its a ~6 mb file - so you can judge dload speed from that was well.

there are likely a few tweaks yet to be made since we changed Linux OS and updated a ton of other stuff. But we need details to know what might need to be tweaked

I am getting a few "failure to connect to web server" messages.

Also, I ran the tracert but I dont know how to copy and paste it for you to view.

Thumbs up

Doug,

It seems the same, plenty fast, to me here at work. I am on a T5 or T6 line, or something, (through a company firewall). I tried to run a tracert, but I got "unable to resolve server name". I suspect due to the firewall.

Seemed better yesterday, but today it seems slow and seems as if I am not getting e-mail notifications again
