Black windshield trim?

I bought my truck that has had a repaint. The gloss black paint is flying off the windshield trim. Was the original trim shiny or flat? Was the grill gloss or flat?

Well, the trim is gloss black from the factory, but it's real tough, and a little different color, kinda looks like powdercoat. The grill is just painted w/ regular automotive paint like the rest of the truck.

if you're planning to refinish the trim... may i recommend using Rustoleum flat black?

you may not like the sound of that but i tell you the stuff is friggin rugged.

i redid a pair of wiper arms on one of my other cars like 12 years ago and the finish still looks super.

only other recommendation is that before you paint, lightly scuff the trim with a green scotchbrite.

I'm going to try this on my wiper arms!
