| 95BeastTruk | Big Block Swap: What needs to be done? Hey guys, Got a 95, love it. When I get out of college, gonna restore it. Wondering what extent of modifications would be neccesary for a big block 460. Anybody got advice? Would power gains be comprable to a turbo'ed 351w?-David |

| Registered User | Best bet would be to find a donor F-250 up to 1997 (same body-style) that has the 460. You'll need the motor mounts, trans., acces. brackets. Decide on either going carb or EFI. They do make mass air kits for 460 but they're not cheap. You will need one, however, to make any mods such as bigger cam, etc. Not sure about driveshaft, may need custom length one made. Radiators I belive are the same. There are aftermarket upgrades. I thought about going 460 in my 92 Supercab since I already have the engine, but decided a stroked 351 would give me the same power and torgue without having to swap trannys and access. brackets. Hope this helped. |

| Supporting Vendor Paid Member | They make conversion motor mounts so you won't have to get new perches. You would need a big block E4OD and the exhaust would have to change but there's not a lot else that NEEDS to change. You can run it off of the factory speed density. Search for Philip in the Gen 1 section. He has a 521 running with the stock computer and a TwEECer I believe. As for power, big blocks are definately stump pullers, but small blocks can make more power than you can handle for probably less money. The stock 460 probably puts about about the same hp as the stock L. Building big blocks gets expensive fast!! Unless you wanted the big block for novelty, you can make more power for less money by getting a blower or turbo. |

| 95BeastTruk | Thanks So far from the prices of 460 head vs 351 heads and cams alone I am much more inclined to just build the original motor. Seems like it mght not be worth all the extra complications if I can get the same or better power from the stock motor. Bore & stroke sounds like a good plan. |
