| Lightning666 | built engine or S/C? I bought my L about a year ago and it's been sitting in the garage all this time. Everything in the truck works fine and I do take it out occassionally for a cruise but it gets very little use. I want to start adding more power but i'm not sure which route to take. The truck came with trick flow heads, throttle body, k&n cai, headers, flowmasters, no cats, msd ignition. The truck has a fuel pressure regulator, would that be cuz it has bigger injectors or what. Anyway I want to start modding it and I don't know whether it would be better to build up the engine or add a supercharger. What transmission modifications would you recommend. |

View this user's gallery iTrader: 10 / 100% | Two questions: What year model is the truck and how many miles are on it? There is no reason whatsoever (that I can think of) to build that engine unless it has a tremendous amount of mileage on it. And even if it does, there have been guys here with 150,000 miles on the clock and running 12's. I'd probably compression test it to make sure it's o.k., and then lay the boost to it, but there are guys here who can be more technical about this subject than I can. On the subject of the transmission, if your truck is a 1995 model, it'll need no freshening unless it has a ton of miles on it. And If it's a 93 or 94, I'd honestly wait until it started giving me problems since you are not dependant on it. Try posting this in the general Gen 1 forum next time, this is mainly for modifications to the Q&A Brian has done. |
