Cool Launchin'

Basically stock/NA. Launching on Goodyear Eagle GT IIs, didn't get the Falkens this time Rod. What's the best way to launch this brick? The best I've gotten at the track is 2.3 60 fts but that was with the crap firestones. Now that I've got the Goodyears I gotta get out and do some more practicing but figured I'd see what ideas ya'll had to help me out. Especially to keep from roasting them off the line. Anything special to do with the tires? I've got a general idea but I'd like to see what you guys think? But if my lead foot gets any worse than it's been lately I'm gonna have to bottle feed it next spring/summer. I can't take low 15s anymore. Strip and as well as on the street.

Cool

Hey Adam, I run the GT IIs on my Lightning wheels also. When they were new and the truck was stock, I got 2.08 60fts and a couple of 15.0s out of it. I was pretty happy with that.
Have you done the shim trick to the stock traction bars? If not, do it.
When at the track.
1) DONT go through the water!
2) Do about a 5 second burnout, no longer.
3) Stage as shallow as possible.
4) Stall up to 1500rpm.
5) Heres the key: SQUEEZE the throttle. DONT hammer it. You want full throttle about 1 trucklength off the line.
6) If you spin, refer to #5!!

You will have to get used to how fast you can get on the gas without spinning. A few passes and you should be able to feel the tires hook or spin on the launch. The GT IIs arent that bad of a tire, considering the mileage they give in return. I know for sure you should be able to go at LEAST a 2.1 60ft if not a 2.0. Keep practicing and have fun.
