| Guest | Hey all, this is Steve from over on the Gen 1 board. I'm sure we are all aware that this web-board is very fastly growing with new users comming on every day as well as the NLOC membership is growing steadily as well. I really like the direction that the nloc is taking and it is pretty apparent that we have some very ambitious and energetic people at the helm. Again thankyou for this. Although, I'm not a charter member I have been around for a few years and see that things are definately on the upswing. Now the point: I'm sure many of you will agree that from time to time you will have the same topic come up over and over again, usually it is a simple how to do this question. For instance , a person on the Gen 1 board asked about the where abouts of the spout connector. It would be nice if we could start tapping into the talent of these truck owners to write a procedure on these things. They could range from simple how to dos to extensive mods like the addition of an intercooler of a Novi blown Gen 1 as well as technical repairs of Gen 2's. Articles could be written on what works and what doesn't, ect.. Then possibly link it for all to use. These writings could be about anything lightning related and to include pictures ect. Now here is the other aspect of this, In order to get to these "how to" links, you need to be a NLOC member. I mean lets face it this is the NLOC board here and there are alot of non members that surf through here to chat, and don't get me wrong they are invited and it is fun to chat inall, BUT it is kind of a free lunch for them. I truely believe this board should remain free to help promote the NLOC, but I look at technical writing as a means of providing the membership with the little extra that the dues paying member can enjoy, and also alittle sweet enticement to join our membership. Just an idea, Thanks Steve ------------------ 94 Crimson #2826 Born May 6, 1994 NLOC member #343 Team Powerdyne, 13.49@ 102mph Wanting 12's Home page: http://www.topworldmusic.com/greased/ [This message has been edited by sstock (edited 01-06-2002).] |

| Guest | How about this: Truck Forums: Gen 1 Lightning - Help Gen 1 Lightning - Tech Talk Gen 2 Lightning - Help Gen 2 Lightning - Tech Talk This will keep the, "What's the best oil?" questions seperate from the "My O2s are at .840 mv, what can I do to get to .900 mv?" questions. It works on other boards and it gives newbies a place to feel a little more comfortable . . . Wayne [This message has been edited by FlashSVT (edited 01-06-2002).] |

| Guest | i really think this could be a good idea, especially if it expanded the NLOC web site more as it IMO is pretty lacking. sure its got the basic technical information and the forums are great but a large database of technical articles would really give the site something to be acknowledged for. as it is now i dont think the site has had any new material added in years. the forums are the only thing keeping the site alive obviously jeff sparkman (who i think does the web site stuff) cant be responsible for updating the site on his own everyday, week, month, whatever but maybe its time to let a few more people drive for awhile and make it a team effort? |

I have been waiting for over a month for my own forum. I dont want to get anybody upset that I post in the GenII section, but I have nowhere else to do it. I was told that it would take a couple of days to get the forum up and running and this was before JL's forum was there, then his showed up and not mine. I have been doing my best to help people out and I am constantly being instant messaged and emailed with questions and technical info, and I answer every single one, so I think I have lived up to my end of the deal. I am still waiting Jerry, please help. Thanks.. JJ ------------------ JJsSvtPerformance Contact me at jjssvt@jjssvt.com and check out my site. | Guest | I think a members only section is the way to go. Especially for a tech section. ------------------ My Webshot Page Gal. 2:20-21 |

| Guest | I agree, sounds like a great idea, expanding the boards to technical info for members. It would probably bring more members "on board"... my $.03 worth......JR ------------------

| Guest | guys I started a thread in the gen1 section about making a tech faq. I'll leave the decision about where it will ultimately go to the leadership of the club, but i would like to start developing a nice meaty FAQ in MS Word that i will eventually convert to a nicely formatted webpage that we could stick wherever you guys decide. I hope i'm not overstepping my bounds, but I don't think it can hurt to get the ball rolling. |

| Guest | Guys Please excuse me for my "BOARD" reference.I have over 1000 posr and emails that tell me there is more to the NLOC than the " BOARD " but nothing more important than the "MEMBERS".My comment was merely a manner of speech, since our mail method of communication is the BB it makes alot os sense to update it and get it in step with the new changes and arttitudes of the NLOC. I'm real pleased that you guys come forward with your ideas and requests, they are exciting and another step in the right direction.I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your post in this thread. I agree 100% it's time for change in our way of doing business "the board" and other things in general. That has been my goal and will remain just that very issue. The club is no longer a financial liability,we do have funds, not alot, but better than one might expect. We've done alot , tried new things, shirts , hats, decals etc, anbd still maintained fiscal responsibility. As you all know it's very easy to spend more than you have, but we have held to the "what can we afford " attitude. This has put some money in the bank for a rainy day. Not only that we have numerous vendors knocking at our door just to be supporting vendors....this is another source of income we need to take adavntage of. So I'm sorry if you think ,thought my entire scope of the NLOC was a BB no way,but it's something that needs improvement and better sooner than later.... There is no such thing as a bad idea!!!!!!
