Re: rule #15

15 Commercial selling on the board is strictly limited to Supporting Vendors. We also do not allow links in signatures, that point to non Supporting Vendors, and violation of this rule will result in removal from the board. We do encourage anyone wanting to sell their products on this board, to contact the webmaster for information on becoming a NLOC Supporting Vendor.

Does this mean that open discussion on any product offered by a non-supporting vendor is not allowed? It doesn't appear to say that.

Well you don't see the Mobil 1 threads getting shut down, they're not a vendor. Hell people even post prices, and coupons etc...

I hope the rule to at least allow discussion of non SV products is considered. Doesn't do much for us if we can only discuss parts that SV's sell, regardless of their performance.

GP

On one of the "Stiegemeier's" post there was talk of a Group Purchase. I can see why Big D wouldn't allow non-supporting vendors to run GP's on NLOC.

I'm occasionally at Bob Stiegemeier's shop. The next time I'm there, I'll speak to Bob about becoming a supporting vendor. Stieg's would do well on this site.

The group purchase thing is obviously wrong, even though the vendor was not promoting it or may have not even been aware of what was being suggested. Thing is most of us learn of new products or services through other members experience. I for one would rather here from the guys on here then some dealers bs that may or may not be the real deal.

Exclamation

If a product competes with our paid SV's, then we usually do not allow it. No links unless the company is an SV. Mobile 1 is not a problem...we do not have other oil companies on the board.

Sir:

I'm concerned some what re: Your recent post

"If a product competes with our paid SV's, then we usually do not allow it. No links unless the company is an SV. Mobile 1 is not a problem...we do not have other oil companies on the board."

I've been with the board for just a short time now and usually don't post very often. I'm well aware that this site is in fact owned and operated by atleast one individual if not infact a team of several... I'm the biggest fan of the entire thing... though the reason I sit and write this post is too share with you. This entire site is in fact just that.... It is a messege board in which to share. Share knowledge, share opinions, share information, share advantages from knowledge we have to offer one another, as of yet I've known of only a few situations in which I've dissaproved of what has been posted or allowed to post I should say... I know that most if not allof these posts are read and censored by the administrators that run this board.... In the past we've known boards to even ban members or censor members' individual posts neither of which doesn't really matter since SN's are cheaply made and the reader is the sole decision maker in the entire end process anyhow...

Having said that on with my concern... I'm here for the informantion which this board has to offer... I will be the judge of which information I credit. That sir is not a slam nor did I intend that to sound as though .. just to clear things up... my concern though is if this board limits member's post to not allow for setting links ino our messages that can limit us to how accurate our information can be.... I for instance have a valve body accumulator with a transgo shift kit with special tooling involved on the accumulator the man who built it build's all of JDM's tranny's. We all know JDM builts kick *** products from the ground up.... I'm not necessarily promoting JDM because he didn't have anything to do with me and my valve body... Butt I have to say that the piece is very nice and gets the job done just the way I like it... and I'm not done tuning it just yet...I can't wait either... but if I'm not allowed to post links in my messeges to share with other readers then the message board has then become a means of which to censor information based on advertising interests.... We read these boards yet for good deals on great parts which our SV's have to offer yes... They are for the most part all great SV's from my dealings with them... And in one since or the other I've dealt with most all of the supporting vendors with perhaps the exception of a few... I've spoke with Gregg, Mark, Johnny, Sal, Vicki, and many of their spouses personally..they all seem to be great guys for the most part... all offering their input on a common interest... but I want to cheer for all they have done for me... some are SV's... some aren't... but they've all helped immensely. Am I wrong in understanding that I may be censored if my message contains a link of which its intent was never to advertise but rather than to cheer for and share with my buddy Josh of Grove City OH.. that Brian of **********built my kick *** VB... rather than a SV's VB which I hear kicks total butt btw.. Gregg if your listening... I'd be willing to give yours a try and let you know how they compare should you care do have me consider it....lol...

Tell me if I'm wrong and sorry for any misunderstandings. This board is soo fun...[b]

Too many ... in there for your post to be very clear.

But, what's your NLOC member number?

FWIW, this board ain't free to operate. If every user of this board paid membership dues, I doubt we'd even need supporting vendors. Heck, if half the members of this board paid membership dues we'd be in great shape.

So that's the dilema. We need money to pay for the site but people don't want to pay to be members. So, to offset costs, we start a supporting vendor program to pay for the site. Now people get mad because they can't advertise free of charge for vendors who compete with supporting vendors.

You have a solution? Post it.

How about paid members only can use the forum? And then only paid members can participate in NLOC group buys?

Sound good to me....I have been wanting that for years.

Seems I read somewhere that this board was bought and sold sometime ago.. Am I wrong?

If I am just say so...

I'm simply saying... is money our sole issue here?
I think not...

So far as ideas... why not have the Admin's solicit SV's... now there's a solution....I'll bet Brian of Brian's truck shop would be more than glad to Advertise his tranny's and VB's .... then him and gregg could then bid on the advertising slots each month...not to mention compete for our business as consumers each offering terrific products though I have my eye on one of Brians Garrilla beating trannys for my next box...after all this is still a democratic society we live in... I'll bet if you called brian today he would quickly agree to advertise here once you told him he could sell VB's for a competitive price... He would make so much money advertising here he'd have to do like gregg did.

In this case everybody wins's paid or not...

This board has never been bought and sold. Neither has the NLOC. Ownership and reponsibilites have change hands about three or four times in the last 10 years, but nothing is ever "bought or sold" so to speak.

Solicit for vendors? Yeah, we never do that...... Where do you think the ones we have came from? They were offered an opportunity to be SVs. They accepted and paid thier SV fees.

We encourage all NLOC members (and even non-members like yourself) to refer vendors to this site to become an SV. The more SVs we have, the greater choice and value our members have. And that is what its all about.

Is it all about money? No. But, without the money from the PAID members and the SV fees, we wouldn't be here.
