I agree with Joeracer to an extent. I feel that if you are going to mod your truck or anything else that you should do some research first. I dont believe you should start do mods just cause someone says to. You should know why you are modding it and how it effects it. I know that not everyone is a die hard gear head and just want results with out caring how they get them but people should not be lazy. I dont have a lot of post, mainly because I use the search function and find a lot of my info. If I do have a question than I try to state that I searched around and came up with nothing and I need some input from others.

I also agree that we do not want to push new members away by putting a bunch of restrictions on them before they can post. But if you want to learn than you need to take the time to read. The 5 search min is a good idea or the sticky with the what to mod first is also a good idea.

The search feature is a valuable tool, but current info can be missed. I we never talked about even simple stuff like pulley choices we all would still be running stock pullies. The oldtimers will remember everyone thinking adding boost was real dangerous. Things change all the time.
I sometimes get tired of the real beginner questions but respond politely with the best info I have. I remember being new myself. What I can't stand are posts made with preschool grammar, poor spelling, and no sentance structure. I learn real quickly that people who do not take the care to construct a good post rarely add anything important to the discussion.

I don't know you guys, but I don't see too much retardation on this forum. Your idea would make sense if you have people posting photos and links of dumb crap and being jackasses.

If you think questions on pullies, cai, or exhaust are lazy... why don't you create a sticky about them? We got a FAQ section right? What I'm interested in most is not what worked well for someone but what didn't work well... what mod was worthless. Also... because someone posted something up 6 months ago or 6 years ago doesn't mean it worked well. Posting up a thread and getting a reply from someone saying "yeah I installed that too a long time ago... ended up replacing it with something better anyway." Almost anything you can post a question about has something posted a long time ago... but it doesn't mean its right or good advice.

We have a "nurturing" atmosphere here... we should keep doing the right thing and helping the new guys rather than restricting them? Great way to run people off in my opinion.

Considering I dumbed almost $1k on my intake setup and gained 3hp and 10 tq. Don't want some other cat making that same mistake.

I agree. Nurturing is a quality of this site.
Newbs wanting to be spoon-fed is where the laziness is a factor.

I am not saying that asking questions are lazy. By no means at all did i mean that. That is exactly what these forums are for to discuss and ask questions. I am just saying put a little effort in before you go straight to asking the simple questions. I would say that so far most everyone has made a valid point on the subject. We are all here to help each other and to learn from each other.

I agree that the search feature is invaluabe. BUT, why would I want to spend 3 hrs. searching through threads that have nothing to do with what I am looking for when I can make a thread and the link can be referred to me by someone with the knowledge of exactly what thread or 'How-to' I am trying to find. It takes just as long for someone who has been there already to post a link as it does to post "use the search button". Plus, if all of these threads were not made, there would only be like 10 new threads per day and that would just be boring. If you don't like a thread, don't read it. It is an active Forum, not a How-To and Archive site only.
