| Black Rider Paid Member | Don and Alex and Marg & I had a relaxing day and the Solano Co. Fairgrounds in Vallejo today. Lots of beautiful old (and some new) Fords of all models. There were even approx. 10 Pintos! Setup was a little different this time. The main aisle was cut off short, and cars (and trucks) were packed into smaller parking areas. Some models were mixed in their areas. I think attendance was down this year...not nearly as many Mustangs for instance. And several of the vendors were conspicuously absent (Delta Bay Mustang; the license plate guy). Making and selling the Tee shirts was assigned to the Nor Cal Galaxie Club. The cars of two of their members were on the shirt, along with a small Mustang at the bottom. Last year, this year's event was rumored to be the last due to lack of participation on planning the event. Well, it appeared to have gone downhill a little, but maybe it is just because of the economy and/or threat of rain. I spoke to one guy around 'our age' who has a Lightning at home. He brought his 1929 Model A, but said if he would have known we'd be there, he would have brought his L. I gave him a card and told him to check us out. He's from Benicia. Late in the morning Jeff (SVT Physicist) stopped by and spent the rest of the day with us. Alex cut out early, but the rest of us had dinner at the Elephant Bar in Dublin on the way home. I took a few pics and will try to post them tomorrow.

Note the new rear spoiler: ![]() One of the other trucks in the truck corral; he has a 2.3 Kenne Bell, and was making notes on our L's mods all day: ![]() I was going to say 'here's a typical parking area,' but several different models are parked together; not usual for FFS: ![]() Here's a neat '61 Starliner that caught my eye: ![]() 4-on-the-floor-backed 390 V-8 in the Starliner: ![]() Colorful Starliner interior: ![]() 'Deuce' hot rod race car (with an idea for George's front splitter/spoiler!): ![]() 'Mustang Row:' the main aisle; many more Mustangs were also parked on the grass this year: ![]() Pretty much typical late model 'Stang: ![]() Pretty much non-typical early 'Stang: ![]() Rare, expensive Shelby Super Snake: ![]() We saw a beautiful yellow and white '57 Tudor station wagon that Marg fell in love with. We talked to the owners for awhile, and found out its been all redone to a cherry state. Its a driver, too. The just got back from Lake Tahoe, and have been driving it to shows all summer. I gave them my card, just in case... ![]() Even with the lower attendance this year, there were still many interesting Fords present, as you can see. We will have to decide whether to attend this as a club again next year or to try out Cherrys Jubilee. Last edited by Nazgul; 09-14-2009 at 01:09 AM.. |

| Need for Speed | Work called me with an emergency on Sunday morning (1:00 am) and I had to go in. The icing on the cake was when the parts arrived from Socal they were the wrong ones. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh well, at least I have a job. Thanks for posting the pictures Paul. I did attend a local car show on Saturday (Ceres) and ran into Richard with his Black GT Shelby and Bob with his Black Lightning. We usually see Bob and Richard at the Good-Guys shows in Pleasanton and I heard that Bob bought Don's old blower set up. Also ran into the gentlemen (can't think of his name) with the Black Corvette that has a superchager and lambo doors. He was parked near us at the Redwood Chapel show. |
