Post It looks like the Redneck Ferrari will be taken out of the hills

Probably going to accept a job in San Jose in early January. Can anyone on here help out finding/directing me on getting a place to live?

Well, it depends on how much you want to spend and where your job is. Where will you be working?

I'll be teaching in Santa Clara @ Pruneridge GC. Mainly looking for a safe place, around $1500. I don't want my wife to feel unsafe. And I would sure rather not come out and find our cars torn up. I'd rather NOT see them, then see them torn up. Right now I worry more about 4 legged critters getting into the garage and having their way, not 2 legged.

you should be able to find a decent place for $1500. rentals seem to be going down that last few months so you're in luck. there aren't too many 'unsafe' places down the peninsula. good luck on the new job.

I agree, stay on the east side of the Bay and there's not too much bad. Crime rate in general here is about a quarter of what it was in Baton Rouge. The only downside is the traffic.

Lots of good kayaking in the Sierras and a very active group of "ocean kayakers" along the coast.

Wow, after seeing whats available for what I'm willing to spend on "rent", I guess it's apartment and a storage unit time. The homes in the area for around $1500 are not too well kept. I figure, if you don't care about your own things, you sure won't give a damn about my things. Easy stuff too, like weeding the lawn, growing grass, picking up your trash. A couple places we looked at were ok, but you leave the street and your right in it. I really wanted a place w/garage and big enough for all our stuff, but I'll have to settle. We're coming from 3 bdrms and 2000sqft, so apt living is gonna be a bit of a shock.
Anyway, we'll settle for an apt for a while. That will give us more time to become aquainted with the area.
See you in 3 weeks

There's a 4br 3ba 2200sqf home in my neighbor hood for rent. $2600.
A year ago that house rented for $3800!

Where are you going to settle on?

Looks like an apt in San Jose called avalon rosewalk. I can put the L in a covered stall and it's gated. I just store 'the house' and keep the esentials in the apt. Not looking forward to apt living though.
We love CA and everything it has to offer, except renting (which sucks) and state taxes (which suck as bad).
It'll only be for alittle bit, so we've got to get over it. I've got to start working more on my game again, so I can make more $$$ playing and not have to teach.
