Question Looking for a small car thats fun to drive...

I've had my lighntning a little over two years now. Its my daily driver and i love it to deaf. Recenlty i've started noticing its taking 70 bucks to fill it up for about 1 week. Its time to sell it so im looking to get a nice car thats got some kick to it. I understand i wont have goobs of lightning torque but something with some get up and go would be nice and if i can get 300 miles out the tank that would be nice as well. Ive been looking at a couple let me know what you think...

Mazda speed 3/6...make good power and have 4 cylinders that should get good milage if i stay out of it....

Dodge neon 05 version...Also good power but its a neon

Suburu STI....same on power but damn its pricey

EVO...little to small for my liking.

let me know what you think and if you have some others i didnt mention.

From the cars that you listed, it sounds as though you may be looking for a 4 door? I'm looking at getting rid of the HD and get a new style -used- BMW 3-series. They are actually pretty fun to drive given the low torque and hp.

I considered the Mini when I bought a DD back in 03. Couldn't justify the cash for a DD.
Took a test drive in an SVT Focus. I liked it but couldn't come to terms with the dealer.
Thought about the Neon. But like you said, when all is said and done, it's still a Neon.

Ended up buying this as a leftover:

It's a 2002. I bought it in May of 2003 for $16,999. New car. 00017 miles on the odo.
It has the 1.8T with a 5 speed. Took it to New German Performance in Aberdeen MD. Just down the street from Brian Baskin, by the way. They flash tuned the bug for a 65 HP gain.
That is the ONLY mod.

It runs 15.5 STOCK:

It ran 14.6 "Chipped"

Gets 27MPG. It's paid for. It's runs OK. It's fun to drive.

Best part is beating someone who thinks they are fast. You know how people get angry when a truck beats them. Imagine that same person getting beat by a Bug. They go nuts. I have seen people get furious when I roll by them.
Right now, I got a guy in work with a Hemi Dodge. He says his truck can keep up with his brother's L. (Yea, right) He wants to run the Lightning. LOL.
I told him he has to get by the Lightning Bug to be worthy to challenge the Lightning. He is LIVID. I would just LOVE to beat him with the Bug. That would be better than another kill with the L.
He won't talk to me anymore. He talks behind my back because the guys tell me what he says. I crank him up every now and then. It's a lot of fun having a dorky car that, I don't want to say is fast, but it goes OK.

Sometimes I talk too much, so that's all for now.

Laters,
FFDecker

Hmm...no ones a fan of the mazdaspeed3 or 6? Been doing some reasearch online. Seems like a pretty promising little ride. May go and test drive one this weekend and see how it goes.

The mini's are a bit too small for me...i always thought they looked neat though.

Oh....I'm a fan of the MS3, but I'm also a fan of not spending alot of cash.

I would even go so far as to suggest an older Civic Si, Nissan SE-R or even a Probe GT.

How about the new civic si but a used one? Pretty quick, handles phenomenal, great on gas, comfortable ride, four door, and not a bad price. A couple of my buddies have them and love them.
