Post Any Radio Control Racer out there???

I used to be into this stuff real heavily before I got into playing with the real stuff! I had a good Bolink on track car! It was fun but the hobby shop which had an indoor carpet track closed up and I sold my stuff!

I think I'm going to get back into it, because another hobby shop has an indoor dirt track!

I want to buy a TeamLosi XXX-Spec stadium race truck! It'll be electric!

I have buddy who just got a new T-Maxx for christmas, and it hauls balls!

Hey shane. I used to be in it too. I have a Traxxas Stampede and a Bandit. I almost bought a HPI road racer this year. But then we bought our 93. Then i was still gonna get it then my dad bought a 95 L. So then i said the hell with it and am happy with the trucks and our 50 cc scooter we bought today.

Those T-Maxxs are cool arent they? I dont have one but my uncle and cousin do, I've played with them a bit..what a blast. Theres a new Non Pull start set up/big block conversion that uses the stock chassis if you're interested...swing by http://www.remotecontrolhobby.com/ theres been some blurbs about it in magazines, but little details have kept them from getting a full test truck yet..should happen in the next few months. If you have any questions about it leave a post, drop me an e-mail or my AIM is magicfan25 and I'll get you an answere.

Cool guys! I figured I wouldn't get many responses but I was wrong!

I got the Team Losi XXX-Spec this morning! I'm going to use my old Futaba Radio and Tekan ESC for a while!

I bought the Reedy 14 double motor! I want to haul! I probably go 7 double soon, I will need a new ESC though! With this combo I think I can hang with some of the new gas stuff depending if there is long straight aways!

Eventually I want a HPI all wheel drive nitro car! They are coming out with new 3 speed trannys for most everything I herd! I just can't run gas around here at any of the tracks, cause most of them are indoors!

Almost forgot, I've got a 1/4 scale sprint car too. It's about 2.5 ft long, weighs 30 lbs, and I'm told it will go over 70 but I havn't been able to test that theory yet. I've had it to 30 or 40 and have well over half throttle left.

The neighbors cat didnt make it back to the fence last time he got in my trash!! He can hear the maxx start up and he unasses the neighborhood now! LOL! I have around 1600.00
in this thing already with all the upgrades, but its lots of fun.

Hmmm..Iv'e built a few RC10T's and Currently just put one of my old ones together again for my little brother. I have the stock Reedy motor and the Stealth transmission with copper bushings for right now.

Anyone have a RC10 truck for sale?? I am interested in getting one to race my little bro with.

Thanks.

If you havn't done it already don't order from the Ford Collection! You can get it much cheaper at www.towerhobbies.com or your local hobby shop. If I remember correctly Ford gets aroun $250 for one, but you can get it from several hobby shops for around $160. www.hobbypeople.net has an ad in the new RC Car Action for the Lightning with radio, battery, charger, etc. for $159.99.

As for your questions, the kit is made by Tamiya and is based on their TL-01 chassis. It is not a competition quality kit, just made for goofing off in the driveway. If you want to compete you would be better off with an RC10TC3 with the L body on it. The kit is fairly simple to put together, but if I remember correctly the instructions had some weak spots. As far as basic mods, don't even bother with the bushings or speed controller provided in the kit if you plan to drive it a lot. Neither of these items have much of a life span, especially if you go for a few mods later. The bearing set will cost you about $40-50 and a good electronic speed controller will start around $40 and go up to $100+. The provided silver can motor will keep you entertained for a while, but more power is easily had. Tower Hobbies has a 27 turn stock motor for $13 that provides lots more power than stock. You can also add adjustable suspension arms, oil filled shocks, "speed tuned" gear sets, and different gear ratios. The list is endless, but you could spend $300 in mods pretty easily and still have a truck that runs half as well as a stock $150 race car. If you want to go fast, buy something else and get the L body to put on it. The body is only about $25 and is available from Tamiya. One good deal that's out there right now is the Associated RC10TC3 Ready to Run. It comes assembled with bearings, electronic speed controller, and a 19 turn modified motor for around $240. A 19 turn motor is probably much faster than you want to go at first.

If you go for the Tamiya, here are some building tips:

1. Install bearings, it's money well spent.
2. Use an electronic speed controller. The stock mechanical one is so poor the directions don't even tell you how to install it because they assume you will upgrade.
3. Before installing the gears, run a cloth polishing wheel in a Dremel across the face of each tooth. Mine had lots of casting flash between the teeth that robs speed and run time.
4. When you build the shocks, put about 1/8" of appropriately sized fuel tubing (get it at your hobby shop) on the shock shafts before slipping them into the shock bodies. This will shorten the shocks and lower the truck abour 1/4", which will noticably improve handling.
5. DON'T lubricate the half shafts and drive cups! The directions say to, but this will only attract dirt and other contaminants which will wear them out much quicker than running them dry.

I think that's everything, if I think of anything else I'll post it.
