Post New Chebby Commercial

Anyone seen it? Has that song "vehicle" from the 70's, and shows off their new upcoming models.

The SSR is on there for a little bit, with a bit of text saying early 2003 launch.

Am i the only one that wants ford to make a commercial smacking down chebby's pathetic excuse for the demented love child of a new beetle and a prowler?

What do you guys think of that thing? GM couldn't come close to the L with the GMC C3, will they come closer with the SSR?

The SSR is not intended to be an L challenger. So no reason to respond. And I think it is great looking. I also like the desgin of the Beetle and Prowler...

I think that SSR is bad as hell. I give Chevy credit for building something like that..you won't see Ford do it.

Some guys think it's their answer to the L, but it's mainly to bring some interest and sales to Chevy and instill some hope that their going to be somewhat creative in the upcoming years. I like the design though. I love the Prowler too. It just needs a bit more pep to back up it's bad *** look.

I give Ford credit for not killing off their low-buck V8 performance car after 30+ years and making some goofy concept vehicle. I'd rather have one LS1 Camaro than 10 of those SSR contraptions.

I think the SSR is pretty interesting looking. I think the new T-Bird is just as retro looking but without the bed. Chevy wouldn't use this as an answer to the L because it is too small and I think that if chevy was going to try and out due ford they would use a 1500 and make an even match-up in size. That seems to be more their style. As for the c3 Sierra, that thing is pretty slow but the Lingenfelter c3 will probably take a stock L. But that really dosen't count because that is nothing close to stock. I would like to see a Shelby Lightning or a Lightning R or some other high end 11 sec package they could install.

I still think Ford should parody some of the Nissan Frontier S/C commercials... using the Lightning of course. I mean look at the fuss they make over having 210hp with a supercharger..isnt it like a 3.6 or 3.8 liter V6 anyway? hell a Ford NA OHC 4.0 makes that. and the stang 3.8 makes like 190. I'm sure its a whole lot more fun than the NA version, but I'd love to meet one at a Light in the Exploda and blow it off the road. From everything I see they run like mid 16s.

to get back on topic I think the SSR and prowler are cool looking, but as was said looks like that demand plenty of muscle to back them up. Too bad neither have any.

The Prowler would need a more bulbous body around the middle, not out of the question BTW, to get a nice engine with performance to match. Then and only then might I be interested. SSR? I guess it could grow on me. Still prefer the L to both, plus, been a Ford guy all my life.

A person I know who is a Chebby fan says "Wait till SLP gets hold of the SSR"

Why wait?

Since we are talking about "design vehicles", my wife got me a model of the Ford Forty-Nine for Xmas. The box is marked "for adult collectors", so I am not sure I should own it. If they actually build this thing I will have to see my loan officer!

Those are the first good pictures of the Fourty niner that I have seen. Looks great! The only thing that I can see that is missing is a small hood scoop. (Or a Shaker!) Anyone good at photo editing? (Hint, hint)

Steve,
I'm with you, probably going to have to see a loan officer ! I'm thinking that would look really sweet parked beside the Black Lightning but wait till you peek under the hood, its going to make your mouth water ... lots of chrome I saw some pics of it in the blueoval news about a year ago. Don't know if there still there, but you might check.

You know the Prowler isnt a bad design (I think it needs at least a 318 in it though) and the SSR isnt to bad either, heard it is supposed to take the place of the Camaro???? Anyway, i LOVE that fourty nine!! Where did your wife get the model, I want one! That thing with the 03 Cobra engine would be very sweet! Id be in line to get one too!
