| Guest | I drive fast evey day. In my opinion it works. I have come across highway patrol running Ka radar many times. I have turned corners where I was the only car around and the cop was running the Ka switched it on and should have caught me doing 90+ many times. I don't know for certain but I am a believer. I know they were running Ka because of my Valentine. The phazar I have doesn't make any noise. ------------------ '01 Black Lightning JL diablo chip, JL drive shaft loop, JL lower pulley, JL ram air, Diablo tranny valve, Metco upper pulley, straight pipes, electric fan, B&M tranny pan, Mag-Hytec diff cover, cal-tracs, Belltech 2" drop shackles, M/T et streets, A.R.E. | Guest | No one has ever been able to verify under controlled conditions that the Phazer works. All of the tests I've read about indicate that it actually INCREASES the distance at which a radar gun can lock on. The only evidence I have ever seen that it works is antecdotal, such as your postings. If you really want to see it works, get someone to drive your car for you, and ask a cop to point the gun at your car, and have your friend drive by while you watch the display on the gun. I think you might be suprised. Anyhow, I'm not trying to flame you or anything. I probably should just shut up and let you think what you want. |

| Guest | LPD, I think that cobra was just looking for opinions. He probably appreciates your input also. I really can't say for 100% that it works because I have never ran a radar gun against someone with a phazar. I have no friends who are cops. I have asked cops if these things work and they tell me they are illegal. When the opportunity presents itself I will do a test like that. Until then I'll go on believing that it works until I get a ticket. It could all be a scam. The units cost about $150. RMR probably has them made for $20. If some one uses the no ticket guaranty it could cost RMR maybe $100 or less. They still make money...or at least come out even. Why would some states ban this product if it is all a scam? Use at your own risk. I haven't got a ticket in about three years. I also use a Valentine 1. In tests Valentine 1 doesn't perform as well as others. I don't believe that either. ------------------ '01 Black Lightning JL diablo chip, JL drive shaft loop, JL lower pulley, JL ram air, Diablo tranny valve, Metco upper pulley, straight pipes, electric fan, B&M tranny pan, Mag-Hytec diff cover, cal-tracs, Belltech 2" drop shackles, M/T et streets, A.R.E. | Guest | Cool. I was just worried I was going to **** you off. I'm glad I didn't Ok, about to veer way off target here hehe. The Valentine 1 is a badass radar detector. I would say for radar detectors, it's a toss up between the V-1, the Escort Pasport 8500, and the bel 980. All three kick butt. Tests show that the Ka in the V-1 is not as strong as the other 2, although it's very good. The directional indicator is really cool, it makes it easier to asses the threat. I like the passport because it shows the strength of each individual target from multiple bands at the same time (kind of like a spectgrum display, really slick). This is very useful for threat assesment as well, although in a different way than the V-1. The only reason I didn't buy a V-1 was the price. I didn't think the directional thing was worth the extra 100 bucks. 1 year ago I would have bought one without hesitation since a year ago nothing could touch it. If Valentine dropped the price by 100 bucks they would still be the only game in tow |
