One reason I don't expect to see a new L anytime soon is that I've read that Ford plans on making major changes to the F-150 chassis within something like 2 years. Supposedly, that's one reason they gave up -- at least for the time being -- developing the Gen 3 L. Add into the mix the way we're being raped at the gas pumps, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ford comes to the conclusion that there's no longer a big enough market for a truck that burns expensive 91-octane gas at the rate of 14 MPG.

Not that this is necessarily a reliable indicator, but used Gen 2 Ls don't seem to be selling on e-bay, either. I've noticed that lately, the auctions seem to be ending without anyone bidding anywhere near what the buyer is asking. I'm sure the situation will improve as gas prices drop, but those gas prices probably have already put a long-term hurtin' on the resale values of gas guzzlers like the L and the SRT-10.
