Check the Boot from the elbow to the Maf, if you tighten it down to hard it might very well be happening right there as well!
You would have to of reefed it pretty damned hard to warp the mid plate. I dont see that happening. I did the exact same thing when I installed mine, the Dowells where too large. I took mine to the machinist and had him make me some new ones!
