Well, I've had a few mods sitting in the garage for a while, and with summer coming up, why not throw them on and have some fun....
It all started with a new set of CompCams. Although they were a PITA to install I was really pleased with the end result. All buttoned up, no leaks, nice sound, and the truck responded well.
And I managed to install some new tunes in the truck too...sorry, no pics of that stuff. Infinity Kappa's all the way around and a powered Bazooka sub.
After finishing all that stuff, I decided those cams needed something to compliment them...I thought a Whipple should do the trick.
Dale came over and supervised the tear down. He mentioned having to remove the tab from the blower belt tensioner..."just wrench on it and it will snap off," were the words he used. Something snapped and it wasn't the tab, lol.
The Whipple install was going pretty smoothly until I fired her up...the dowels were a tad long and the mid plate didn't seat right. I had to tear everything back down and start over.
After finishing the tear down, I commenced reinstalling everything right away and when I fired her up the second time, she had a high idle. It was too late and I was too tired to figure out the problem.
I got out there today and scratched my head, because I checked everything 3-4 times over and couldn't come up with a logical answer as to why it idles high...high being 1,400 rpm. Not to mention, I tore her almost all the way down a few times trying this and that with no luck. I did manage to drive her around the block and so far I'm really impressed...I'd like to see what she really can do when all the kinks are worked out.
I also managed to throw on that MP bracket as well. I'll keep everyone updated as to when she's 100%.
Huge thanks to Steve, Dale, and Jon...I couldn't have done this without you guys.
