Chase,
First things first. Take the cover off your rear end and check the fluid. If it is black and smells burnt then the fluid went bad. then look at the clutches in the differential. You will see Three little ears sticking up on each side. If they are all still there then you definitely have nothing to worry about. If one or two of them are missing look them in the bottom of the housing were the last little bit of fluid lies. If you find an ear in there then you need to see if anything got damaged on your ring and pinion. If not good then you should be OK. Also look to see if the little gears in the differential are cracked. If you do not find them cracked then the rear is in good working order. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE FORD FLUID BACK IN THE REAR. IT SAYS WHAT TYPE TO USE ON THE REAR. YOU MUST USE IT.
