That speed sensor really doesn't effect shift point..I took 2-3 teeth off my exciter ring, to the point where cruising down the highway I was fluctuating from 70-45.. This was happening each revolution of the rear end. The cruise didn't work and the ABS sensor contstantly pulsated each time I applied the brakes..These were pretty much the only symptoms, no real shifting problems however.

The biggest thing you have to make sure of when you change the rear end oil is TO MAKE SURE THERE'S NO METAL!! In the 8.8" theres a little recess right by the rear cover mounting surface..Get in there with your hands and magnet to make sure there's no metal. The reason my excitor ring went bad was a piece of my clutch ears got wedged in the teeth of the excitor and and wedged itself between the excitor ring and the rear cover, and sheared the 2 teeth off..

This things do fluctuate a small amount at high speed, but not more than 2-3 MPH. If you have any more questions email me at mailto:frisk@purdue.edufrisk@purdue.edu</A>
