Post I had some fun at the Anderson Ford shoot out and learned a little too! (long)

#1 Don't even bother stageing unless your dial in is up on the board and right.

#2 Even if you think your competitor spun off the line and hasen't caught up to you slow down anways cause your gonna break out.

#3 You have the advantage if your the underdog cause no one wants to be beat by you, and that makes them nervious.

#4 You also have the advantage if you are more than twice your own age younger than your competitor and have only been to the track 2 times, cause they don't want to lose to you and that makes them nervious.

#5 Did I mention not staging if your dial in is not right?

Anyways the underlying story.

Ok 8 trucks showed up(scared off by the chance of rain?). I was the youngest by decades, and I was the only one with a gen1 and the only one (other than the 4x4) not running slicks. We all got paired off for the first round I won so did the 4X4 the guy who made it to the finals and one other not sure who. Lined up again this time the 4X4 took him, the guy who made it to the finals with me also won. Ok so I am in the finals now, I expected to get eliminated the first round too! I go to stage and not any wiser to the ware they mess up my dial in, a 14.46 opposed to what was to be a 14.96. I run a 15.025 and the other guy runs a 13.712 on a 13.60 dial in. I get my timeslip and look at it it says he won I was like well you win some and you lose some then I caught what was on my dial in and I do some quick subtraction.
15.025-14.96=.065
13.712-13.60=.112
at this time I am pulling by my entusiastic freinds who are saying you won you won they messed up your dial in.

They call me up to the tower to sort it out. I say well I dialed in a 14.96 not .46 I won with that and then (can't remeber his first name) Anderson says that we should rerun it. They other guy is there and is kinda like oh it's his fault he didn't catch it we shouldn't rereun it I won. Any way we rerun and I break out by .03 cause I thought he spun and didn't have the presence of mind to slow down anyway.

Not bad for my first braket race. By all technicalitys I won but the guy beat me the second time fair and square. Second is good enough for me, It's enough to get past Lightning Bob and them :P .
