A little more progress tonight. Assembled the sides again to the skeleton to mark and cut the offending part of the skeleton at the front so as to not interfere with the cover for the floor heat register. Also notched the cargo box to clear the rear of the console and made a floor for the main storage compartment.
Here's a note. If your console has the rear cupholders and your truck has the cargo box don't spend any time on the cupholders. If needed just paint the cupholder cover and reassemble. It won't open with the cargo box in place. If your truck does not have the cargo box at the rear of the cab the cupholders will open and can be used for sumthin...
Pics...
The small part of the skeleton that extends past the side panel, driver side.
Passenger side. This just barely extends past the side panel. Very little to remove. Marked the area to cut and used the trusty little dremel tool with a cutoff wheel. After the cut a light sanding with a sanding block, round the sharp corners just a little and it's done.
Before and after on the driver side of the skeleton.
Passenger side.
The cargo box with lines drawn for the cut.
The cut.
Cargo box fitted and clearance around back of console.
Floor cut for the bottom of the main storage compartment. Nothing pretty here it just needs to create a solid floor for the rubber mat to sit on. Have to relieve for the screws that attach the storage compartment to skeleton.
Plywood is covered up with the rubber mat.
Another area to address is the gap between the carpet and the bottom of the console at the front. Others have used the carpet that was cut out for the mounts and stuffed those under the carpet to raise it. Something to fiddle with tomorrow night. Passenger side gap.
Driver side gap.
That's it for tonight.
